It all began in the summer of 2002 when Nao took her first, and only, sewing workshop. She learned how to use a sewing machine and a few hand stitches. That summer she spent countless hours draping, pinning and sewing (and ripping apart) fabric as she taught herself how to fit and balance a garment and how to bring her vision to life. When she wore her pieces out to parties the response was phenomenal and she quickly received requests from people to design pieces for them. Nao set out to create for herself and ended up with a bespoke business. Working primarily in silk, she created wedding dresses, party dresses, tops and skirts for a select group of private clients. At the same time, she was also making incredibly easy every day pieces out of jersey fabric. Turning the jersey pieces into ready to wear, they were sold in over 40 stores across the U.S. and Canada for two years. In 2007, life took her in a different direction and she wound down the ready to wear business and the majority of the bespoke business. Fast forward to 2016, Nao is bringing back the top pieces from her ready to wear collection and is taking on a limited number of new private clients for her bespoke collection.
